The Concern

Deltona has long functioned heavily as a commuter community. More local jobs and services can reduce travel burdens and strengthen the tax base when development fits the community.

What Deltona Can Actually Control

The City influences economic development through land use, infrastructure, permitting, redevelopment policy, partnerships, incentives where lawful, and business climate.

Goal + Legislative Commitment

My Current Commitment

I will work for economic development that produces real local value—jobs, services, tax base, and infrastructure—while measuring incentives and protecting established neighborhoods.

Proposed Actions

  • Target employment-generating uses appropriate to designated growth areas.
  • Measure any incentive against promised jobs, investment, and public cost.
  • Improve predictability and customer service in permitting without weakening standards.
  • Support infrastructure that unlocks appropriate commercial and employment areas.

Research Still Needed

Employment base, commuting patterns, vacant commercial land, infrastructure constraints, permitting times, incentive policies, and target industries.

Working position: This page can change when better evidence, legal constraints, costs, or community priorities justify a change. Changes should be explained publicly.
